Identify Air Compressor

Hi all. New to the site. Wife and I are starting to build our own home, doing it ourselves, and so I'm needing to get my old air compressor running well. I got it free a few years back. I can't find any documentation on it - it says "AstroAir" on the tank and "Pony Air" on the regulator. I'm having issues where it trips breakers. I've been using it plugged into an outlet on the yard that doesn't have a breaker. Any help you guys can give me identifying it would be greatly appreciated. I work for a motor manufacturer so have access to motors if that's what is wrong with it. I'll try to upload some photos.

pics no worky.
you will need to give us more info. HP of motor, when it trips the breaker, and what do you mean," I've been using it plugged into an outlet on the yard that doesn't have a breaker"
are you running it on an extension cord?

Its always run direct, not thru an extension cord. I live on an old farm and we have an outlet on our pole that doesn't have any sort of breaker/fuse ect. When I use it I plug it in there to avoid the nuisance tripping.

I don't know current draw, I'll get that tomorrow. My fluke doesn't go over 10 amps so I'll borrow a higher rated one from work tomorrow. I'm a fractional hp motor engineer but can't find any documentation on this motor. No nameplate, mfg, ect. Thought about taking it to work and putting it on a dyno to get my own specs for it.

do you get any pressure built up or does it blow the breaker right away?
does the pump spin freely by hand?
does the motor start & run with the belt removed from the pump?
is it wired for 240 or 120?

One of your first projects needs to be to fix that outlet and whatever other electrical issues there are. If they have an outlet without a breaker, there is sure to be other dangerous issues around.

Pretty generic compressor pump but definitely not Pony. The pump has disc valves. Pony uses reed valves. So does Swan. My guess would be Westinghouse.
