Ok guys. I got alot of help with my last thread "identify this car lift", so Im at it again.
Background: I bought this place from the bank and no one knows anything about anything. It was sold as is.

Ive attached a pic, I know its bad but its all I have at the moment. Look at the heater duct from the ceiling, the heater was removed by the the previous owner. A blower fan is still in the duct. Is there a special type of garage heater that would go here or is this a universal type deal. Ive seen the heaters that you simply hang from the ceiling but not with actual ductwork or a blower fan. Note: a thermostat is also wired up. You can barely see it below the blue box on the wall. The blue box is actually the on/off switch to the missing heater.

More pics to come of the other side, where the heater was actually removed from. P.S. you can see the car lift in the foreground for those involved in my last thread.

Looks like a horizontal furnace that might be used in a home. There should be an access panel you can pull off and find some specs and a name.If its missing the guts maybe its just being used as a fan now.

I know its hard to explain without pics, but the actual furnace is completely missing. It wasnt inside that ductwork that you see hanging from the ceiling, it was hanging just to the left of the back piece of duct. Currently, the back piece of duct has the whole left panel missing where the furnace would have bolted up to it. Thats where you can see the blower fan.

I hadnt thought about a house furnace. That is possible. Im not in the house yet so Ill see if I can get some better pics or a ID tag or something.

The furnace in my house is horizontal....and up in the attic......

Personally....what ever was there.....what ever is left....trash it....for safety, go new....

Not worth burning down the barn.....

I would just do as ddawg suggested and get rid of that and put a new garage heater like Hot Dawg or similar. If that exisitn piece has a fan and blower, it may be nice to leave it as an air circulation for summer?

Any recommendations?? The shop will not be heated full time. Im looking for an electric heater (house has no NG or LP currently) that I can keep at 40 degrees to keep things from freezing and then I can turn it up while Im in there. I know this subject has been on here hundreds of times Im sure. It is just overwhelming of the choices of heaters.

Identify something that is not there? There's any number of things it could be, and that's about the worst angle to shoot where it was, from.

Just go new.
