any ideas? i'm in the market for a nice drill press, i'll even take one without a motor since i have a few 1hp motors i can adapt to one to give it some extra power. looks like a 70s style drill press, can anyone identify?

A lot of them are still around and still being used. That's a pretty good indicator of their quality. Unless there's some obvious wear or abuse, for $75, I'd buy it.

Tough call but I think I would still take the Delta. I suspect that the Delta has had an easier life, being used in a wood shop.

BOTH! Either one should do ya like previously stated if they are not blown out. If they are talk them down.
local craiglist, the delta is actually losted at 75, so i might be able to swing it lower too. and the craftsman is at 150, but i'd only offer near the delta price since it looks like its tagged at a garage sale.
i unfortunately didnt get on a deal fast enough to get the big 2hp 3/4chuck craftsman DP that showed up a few days ago

Kracin: if the Delta works i like the way it looks a lot better and i wouldn't beat up the old guy selling it since his $75 is more than reasonable. if its not sold already.
drill a few holes with it and listen and see how it works and carefully take it home without bending any of the parts.

Grab the first one, great deal.....if it will do what you need. Pretty sure it is a DP220 (14" machine) but with that narrow of a front belt guard it has the high speed pulley set, so be forewarned it's about a 1/4" in steel machine as is. Even slowed down a bit they are only ~3/8" twist drill in steel max. Looking for a "nice" drill press, I'd look for something more heavy duty, more in the 17" range.
