I have a set of Blackhawk metric sockets in my box from who knows where so when I saw a set of SAE sockets and a ratchet/extension on MSC I thought it would make a nice little set to keep in my truck.

Anyhow, I ordered the set and when it arrived, I was surprised to see that the ratchet was not the typical knurled handled, round headed Blackhawk ratchet I expected. Nor was it the ratchet advertised as coming with the kit. In fact, the ratchet was in a separate sealed bag rather than sitting down in the molded plastic compartment that was clearly designed for the traditional ratchet.

The ratchet says Blackhawk right on the handle, and it does have a round head, but that's where the similarities to the other Blackhawk ratchets I'm used to end. It has a knurled thumb wheel but rather than being used to spin the ratchet head, it is actually the reversing mechanism. The head is quite compact and the gear has somewhere around 70 - 80 teeth rather than the 45 of the old style. It's also about an inch shorter than the other style.

I can't say I'm disappointed as I kind of like it overall, but in Googling the model number that's clearly stamped on the handle, I can't find a single picture of this ratchet anywhere on the web. That seems unusual to me.

Has anyone seen one of these? Where is it manufactured?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Looks like a Blackhawk version of a USAG ratchet to me. Does the bag say made in Italy on it?

here's a picture of a Dewalt ratchet that has the same head but, a different shaped handle.

I have the 1/4 & 3/8 drive round head Dewalt ratchets and they're pretty nice.

here's a link to the USAG version in 3/8 drive. The ratchet head appears to be the same as yours and the Dewalt.

Your Blackhawk ratchet is probably some crossbranding from the Stanley Black & Decker tree since they own USAG & Facom.

Looks like a Facom. My 151 ratchet head is the same design with a bolt/screw bold in the mechanism.

Sorry OP, I don't have any information on that ratchet, but out of curiosity are the sockets still stamped USA?

Wow. It does look a lot like the Dewalt ratchet. The entire kit was listed as "Made in USA" but that was probably for the ratchet that was supposed to have shipped with it.
