A buddy brought it over, said he could stump me... he did  No markings anywhere.

Does it have a spring inside it? If so, my guess is that it's a confined space hammer, for driving tacks into upholstery or similar.

No spring. Here's another pic showing the end of the plunger, note it is dimpled. The plunger has about a 2-1/2" throw, and moves freely until you squeeze the handles, and then a pin/boss cams up towards the rights side (as seen in first pic) and holds the plunger in place. This can be anywhere along it's full throw. After typing this, I went ahead and posted a video

My guess is a tool to install ear tags and such on cattle and other livestock.

Or maybe a primer installer for bullets.

I don't think it's anything to do with reloading/ammo, either. I'm leaning towards a tag tool of some sort. At first we thought you might hit the plunger with a hammer, but the more I mess with it, the more it seems like the plunger is just gravity fed, like I show in the video. BTW, it is all cast and pretty heavy.

Oh, well, back in a tool box and a potential cold case in the future.

Thanks to those that had "idea'ers"

Nice job Kracin

Guess mine is the less popular single-use version, no plier jaws, or screwdriver. But that multi-use model doesn't have my uber-useful, giant-*** site on the end either!
