I am curious if anyone has seen this over at BrownTool.com
They have a 1/4" socket set that's claiming to be USA made. Can anyone identify it? Is it worth the $32.50 + s/h?

Same here, that's why I thought I would post here on Garage Journal since there's a bunch of tool buffs here. Hopefully someone can figure something out. These would make a good addition to my many different sets.

I saw vendors selling them at car show / fea markets. Didn't pay close attention to them, other than they looked cheap, and kept walking on!

I got a GTI 1/4" socket set for $3 at a little country auction once. They had a huge box full of them, but wouldn't open one to let us see the quality. It was Walmart-level garbage...not even as good as Harbor Freight's cheapest set. It definitely looked like the house brand for a discount store or something. I was just barely out of high school, so it would've been in 1998 or 1999.

It was a different set than the one pictured. Mine had a grey case and the ratchet had a cross-hatch type grip. Hopefully that one is a higher product line or something, because the one I had was so bad that I simply threw it away; it wasn't even good enough to sit under the seat of my truck.

It's a shame, but "Made in the USA" doesn't mean anything for quality. We have just as many lazy workers, corner-cutting engineers, and penny-pinching business owners as any other country.
