I purchased a couple of 2 gallon containers of either motor oil or hydraulic fluid from tractor supply

Unfortunately the labels have come off so even though they are new, I have no idea what they are

Anyone out there have an idea of how to ID the contents?

Hopefully its gear oil!

Did you buy them that way on clearance?
Maybe you can go back and find similar jugs with the green cap and make a guess.

You can smell them. Easy to tell the two apart, but since you can’t possibly know the viscosity, what’s the point? Save it for lubing garage door torsion springs yearly.
Yeah

Option of last resort
