Hi guys,

I have this floor jack, but am not familiar with the type of Hydraulic system it uses.

The issue I'm having is it only starts pumping when the pump lever is half way down. The lever and piston(?) don't seem to meet until then, so Im unsure if something is missing.

Ill contact 'Joplin', but just in case they don't know (not sure how old the jack is), thought I'd ask here just in case it shared the same design as another jack.

That is the way it is designed to allow handle clearance under the car. That looks similar to a Walker design which is an excellent jack.

that is the design and it sounds as if it is working as designed.

I would clean it up a bit, and use it.

Thanks guys :)

Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial...

Thanks HCR :), I read that thread some time ago, very very good write up. I actually replied to it regarding another jack I'm wanting to fix. Unfortunately, I think this jack design is a bit different than the one in the thread :/

that is the design and it sounds as if it is working as designed.

Definitely not working as it should I tried jacking up the car, but the jack would only start lifting when the bar was almost parallel to the ground.
Each stroke became shorter & shorter to the point where is would no longer pump... but the jack had only lifted a short distance, & didn't even get the vehicle wheel off the ground.

I'm just not sure what the style of jack is used, but if anyone happens to have a diagram view, then I could probably tear it down and inspect the internals.

Thanks :)
