IDing Waterloo Cabinets

Hi,

New on here, have been reading a lot, but am curious of one thing wrt tool chests. I recently got a great deal on a husky 27" 6-drawer tool chest that is at least assembled in USA. I'd like to figure out who the actual manufacturer is.

Many threads have had folks state that a box "looks like" a waterloo, but it's not clear why. What is the indication?

I'm most interested because I want four swivel casters to make it easy to pull it loaded from the spot where I have it parked, do I can use it as a mobile work top for tinkering that I do.

If you are looking for 4 swivel casters, I would look elsewhere than Waterloo, or Searspartsdirect.com. You will find that the casters from these sources cost alot more than you probably paid for the whole box. Also, can't tell from your picture if your cabinet has the "Waterloo" look.

Well optimally Id just call Husky/HD and ask for two more. Ive looked at a few place and either they are the same size but not swivel, or swivel with the right bolt mounting holes, but not the right size.

What specifically is the waterloo look?

if you look at the inside or the bottom of the first drawer, there should be a sticker with numbers and a phone number if it there it most likely made by waterloo if you call the number it should be straight to waterloo.

Generally, it refers to the style of drawer pulls or handles(on older models). Also, they are well known for their brown hammertone industrial machinists chests and cabinets that share the same look. They tend to be heavy and built very solid, not like current Husky or CMan boxes, unfortunately. I can post a picture of an old Craftsman cabinet I had, made by Waterloo (not the side shelves-I made those).

I found a pic of another old cabinet I used to have. Its a 1972 Waterloo roller- built like a brick **** house. This is the WL look from the old days.
