If That Garage Could Talk!!!

I was out on sunday for my first vintage bicycle ride of the season. it has been really crappy here in chi town. took a little different route than normal. i stumbled across a little one car garage. most likley built in the early 20's. this building had some character!! check out the doors and lighting. not in the best of shape anymore. just imagine what this garage has seen. picture is not the greatest as i got chased away by the homeowner. seems the neighborhood has rallied against her to fix or tear down the garage because it is an eyesore. i told her that was a piece of artwork. she was still a little pissy after i told her i wasn't her neighbor. so i didn't snap anymore photos. let's see some of your garages with character. got any in your neighborhood let's see em!!

i'll 2nd that. my grandpas house had a similar size/shape garage, white in color and could use some new paint and shingles.

the door was a flip up type. just give it a hell of a tug on the handle and pull up.

it housed an army tent, a dozen bicycles, misc tools and lawn mowers. i has seen better days at well over 70 years old.

WTH? The neighbors find that to be more of an eyesore than the train tracks, overhead power lines, and huge industrial building?

My next door neighbor's house was built in 1909 and it has an attached garage that's original to the house. If you think about how many cars were on the road 102 years ago, let alone dedicated garages (I imagine most people would have kept them out in the horse barn), it has to be one of the oldest ones around. I look at it today, and try to picture it with a brand new one of these sitting inside...
