If the Dual 80 SnapOns had a quick release...

They would be absolutely perfect. This is my only gripe with Snap On and this particular series of ratchets. Its nice sometimes to position a socket (with or without an extension) on a bolt, and then be able to slip the ratchet on by pressing the release button as you slide it into the socket. The ability to do the reverse is also nice. My Craftsman slim ratchet is particularly good in this regard.

Does anybody else share this sentiment?

I agree completely. I have a bunch of the dual 80 ratchets and I like them a lot, but I wish they had a quick release. To add to that they're really tight to pull sockets off of (mine anywway). Hopefully they'll 'wear in' and loosen up.

All of my Snap On ratchets have really secure-feeling ball retainers. It's great because you won't lose a socket... but it makes it hard to change out sockets with oily hands. I'd love a quick release feature, but i have noticed that almost all of the top-tier ratchets do not have a quick release. i wonder why....

What happens when you go to take a socket off a quick release ratchet when you're not used to a quick release ratchet? :D

SO does/did have a quick release for their 36 tooths, I don't see why they won't eventually release the dual 80 model eventually.

The old Sears round head was a quick release and a damned good one. I never used one better designed.

Would a quick release make a completely sealed ratchet impossible? Seems like the button would open up the insides to contamination.

That is the ratchet, I have them in the three popular drive sizes. Unfortunate the only way to get them is catalog order. I have never had a moments problem with any of them and their quick release feature has always worked flawlessly for me.

Same here ... I have the 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", and the flex head 3/8" ... Excellent ratchets and well made ... they are my go to ratchets even though I have Snap On, Matco, MAC, and others ...

I don't mean to digress, but I wonder if you guys have had the same trouble I have with my 3/8" flex head Easco equivalent. It works great, but if you use it on a socket without a deep recess for the ball to seat in, you cannot turn the direction lever. The lever turns flawlessly on Craftsman sockets, since they have deep recesses.

This is really bugging me!!

I've never had that issue ... I have sockets ranging from Snap On, Craftsman, Matco, Herbrand, Bonney, and many more ....
