I was trying to find the best price on a 2000 pound rated engine stand. Comparing the Harbor Freight, the Northern Tool, Amazon etc.
I stumbled across the Sunex 8400 folding design and rated 1 Ton, at Home Depot with free delivery or pick up in the store, for $256.00 ($276.00 with tax and before possible military discount).
I have to rebuild three engines soon, starting with a Nissan four cylinder and then two Ford V4's that are generator engines w heavy iron blocks and iron heads so I want something solid.
The Sunex 8400 is $320.99 at Summit Racing plus a $19.99 "over size" charge. I don't know about shipping at Summit since I didn't experiment with the shopping cart. However the Sunex 8400 seems to be well over $300 almost everywhere and compares really well with Harbor and Northern in build quality and details like casters. The 2000 pound rated Pittsburgh folding unit is $159.97 plus tax and is not available at my store!
Youtube videos seem to indicate that the Sunex has superior casters and other design details. With store pickup if you inspect it and it doesn't meet expectations.... just return it.

My assembled 351W has been installed on my harbor freight 2000lb engine stand in my kitchen for the last two years.

$159 + tax. Not sure how much shipping is because the store is only about ten miles from me.

I really need to get off my **** and finish the engine bay & front suspension so I can re-install the engine.
The casters were strong enough for it to get pulled from my garage, down my bumpy sidewalk and up into the house.

I may be a bit jealous. Can we see a picture of this stand in the kitchen?

Cleveland. We rock.
When I lived in Cleveland proper, some folks I met rebuilt carbs trannys etc on the kitchen table and some bikers would park their Harleys in their kitchen overnight

I've been in a house, not mine, where the homeowner had SBC cylinder heads hanging out on the kitchen counter. They looked as if they were for some time.

Pictures of the ex-wife or it didn't happen ;)

I've had that same stand for years and have been impressed a time or two. Hell I had a OHC Pontiac str6 fully dressed hung of it before without a hint of droop.
