A little background. I did auto body restoration and heavy collision repair for 20 years when I was younger. Also a few years of high end cabinet making. I’m currently a firefighter close to retirement. A few years ago I decided to buy a welder to make a roof for my Polaris. One thing led to another..here is my latest project. I copied the idea from restoration hardware. They want like 1300$ for their table.[emoji849]

Cool build. Add a speed knob to your wheel to make it more efficient.

I guess I should have mentioned it’s a side table to set my beer on that goes next to the sofa.. but it is totally functional. This is the second one I have made...and the last. Very mind f-ing. Fought me the whole way..

First rule of buying a welder is making a welding cart..

Great projects, where did you find the big handwheel?

I really like the 3rd hand. I could use one of those several times a week :D

Do you use a bandsaw or the abrasive wheel shown?

Big handwheel was off EBay,
3rd hand is very useful
Most all cut are done on my 50 year old horizontal vertical band saw.

Nice jobs. You have some real talent.

Thanks for the kind words. Here’s my latest project I finished last week. Still hunting for a glass top for it.

Made some soft jaws on the milling machine for the RECORD vise yesterday out of Delrin. Gorilla glued high strength magnets to hold in place.

Getting the hang of my milling machine. This is a faceplate for a CNC like controller box for a milling machine. c5aca9337e460e44614e0edbdcbb91ef.jpgc462acd6c2bda50415b4917f080926f5.jpg

Made some jaws for my Columbian 501 Vise to replace the original beat up ones. Came out ok, still fairly a newbie at using my milling machine.

Couldn’t find the proper screws that hold the jaws on locally, so I got something close and made my own. The bolt on the left is what I started with, the 2 on the right is what I ended up with. Works like a charm.

Nice work. Great skills

Thanks, Today I broke out the lathe and made some table locks for the x and z axis of my milling machine to replace the crappy plastic ones.

Here’s the Polaris roof I made because my money wasn’t green enough for a local fabricator, so that’s when I decided to buy my welder and get to getting. Now mind you, I do not have a metal brake,so all the bends were done by hand. 14 gauge metal by the way...

A little something for the wife. Fun,simple project. The kit was bought on line. Comes pre cut, you just weld it on a 3/16 rod (not included or the base) and heat and bend each piece to resemble a rose.
