Here are a couple IH tools that I recently aquired. First up is an IH model 2037 electric hedge trimmer. It was made by Rockwell.

Next is an IH model 2046 cordless, electric grass trimmer. This was also made by Rockwell.

Both of them work. Neither have been used much at all. The trimmer blade on the grass trimmer is still razor sharp.

I have a Rockwell milling machine that works like new. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for Rockwell yard tools. I did not know they ever made them.

Btw, what kind of batteries does that cordless trimmer have? Does it use something you can still buy like D cells or something? I can't believe a rechargeable battery from the early 80s would still work

Why would International have marketed a brand of yard tools? They're cool, but I don't understand what IH's reasoning was for doing that in the first place?

Stephen,
I'm sure it was to compliment the Cub Cadet mowers. IH founded Cub Cadet. They had their own lawn tractors, relabeled snow blowers & push mowers.
IH made all kinds of stuff over the years. The obvious things are farm equipment & trucks(fron SUVs & pickups up to 18 wheelers). they also made riding mowers, construction equipment, refrigerators & deep freezers, cream seperators, they even made M1 Garands during WWII. They also had mechanics tools(re labeled Wright brand tools)

A good friend of mine bought a small trailer load of IH memorabilia about a year ago. He planned on selling all of it and told me if I was interested, he would save both items for me. I did some work for him a few weeks back and he gave them to me as a gift for helping him. I'm very grateful for his generosity.

This was the first IH grass trimmer I had ever seen too!

I knew about the mechanic's tools. That made sense because they would have been sold at the dealers that sold trucks and tractors.

I guess I didn't think about mowers. I knew Cub Cadet was started by IH. I guess that makes sense that a mower dealer would also sell trimmers.

The IH Garands were actually made in the 50's. They won the gov't contract for the last batch of M-1's ever made so they stopped production of their freezers and fridges and converted the factory to make Garands.
