I have a HF near the swap meet I go to every Sunday. I go to the store next to it on my way home every Sunday. At least 3 times a month I go in FG. The store smells so bad and bothers my asthma so I don't stay long. I am happy to say the only thing I buy in thee are the tool boxes, tarp in a ruch and a hoist. They all have been bery good. I have owned thier impact sockets for 25 years and used them in construction and shop. They are like new and are well worth the money. The only thing is thier sets are missing sockets. For that reason alone I would not buy the.

I have not spent a dime in thier in the past 6 months. They had a parking lost sale this week and there was nothing worth taking for free. Thier tool chest and cabinets along with the new tool cart are very well built and for the size you can not beat the price or quality. The rest can go back to China. I keep thinking there should be something in there. OH, Some of thier new ratchets are very good. Thier upscale tools are quite nice. They have had good reviews.

You don't want to bring the ghetto of tools into the neighborhood of nice tools. The stink will rub off. LOL

Again, if that is such a bad place, why go there 3 times a month? It bothers your asthma, it gives you mental anguish, why torture yourself? :dunno:

With a 20 percent off coupon, I recently bought a gallon of Evapo-Rust on sale at HF for $20-- the cheapest I've ever seen. BTW for Mickey O: Evapo-Rust is a Texas company run by veterans.

It is less painful buying import tools from HF than buying import tools from the truck brands.

As Bubba said to the fishie......"You'll learn to like it."

Yeah....I second that Mickey O therapy there.....Here: Here's a five inch set of Channellock sidecutters and a Harbor Freight adjustable wrench.

Good Luck.

HF must be goin' wild! They opened one near me in Indio, CA, about six months ago, just 2 miles from my house. Thank goodness the swap meet is even closer.... same money, much better tools.

You have a point, but personally speaking, I don't buy from either source and try to avoid tools from china all together.

There's no shame in going to HF, my only wish is that they would be closer than an hour away. Their "cheap ****" has helped me get tools I couldn't otherwise afford, and let me do tasks I couldn't otherwise do. If a tool breaks and I use it often enough, then I go buy a higher end one that will last and do the job better. It's just ignorant to pay $10-$20 per impact socket if you only use them a couple times a year, and the $20 for a whole set works fine for the task at hand. I don't care if a tool gets scratched or the finish chips, I get a tool to use, not look at, so unless the HF brand won't work, it's good enough for me.

This may be sound reasoning for your situation, but I HATE it when I need to use a tool and it "fails" when you need it most, and you cannot complete a job that you must complete, or have limited time to complete, or do not have a spare tool to complete it with, or you have to stop to go get another tool to to complete it, especially when you have your only source of transportation tore down to fix , and you live in the country and the nearest parts or tool outlet is miles away and for just a few bucks more I could have a dependable, reliable tool that will complete the job and give me peace of mind to know I can rely on my equipment and the by product of my decision helps keep my fellow Americans working. I'm just sayin.
