Between my last purchase off the 2 new snap on socket wrenches and the cordless impact driver, I have spent 600 total in snaps with the new additions to the fam.

Today I have

224sffsm - which is the shallow and deep set of 3/8 sockets
Eedm525d - auto ranging DMM with rms ( will learn to use that function soon enough)
And three extentions fxk3, 6, and 11

Throw it all on the deck & get everything scuffed up. This will remove all fear of actually using the tools.

Nice purchases....

Nothing wrong with utilizing truck credit, especially if you use your tools to make a living. It's a Win/Win situation IMO, why not let your money work for you and use the tools to make money? I'm so sick and tired of people making excuses about the pitfalls of Credit, it's not the system that's broken, it's Soley the owner of that credit account.

Creeping death I hear ya on the fluke. I wanted an 88v but fluke doesn't give me half off like snap on does at Our school. Also its korean.
Would love to have that 88 with the inductive clamp and all necessary leads. Especially the back probe leads and the piercing leads. Maybe later

It was some snap on promotion, every time you buy one you get entered into a drawing to win a free solus ultra... so far i think i have a good chance. My guy gives me first dibs on stuff too, 1 because we're good buddies outside of business and, 2 i'm literally his best customer.

Hiball is spot on! If you are responsible credit is a great thing. Not so responsible, then it will bury you. If you can choose to make reasonable purchases with reasonable payments there will be no problems. My balances have been very high(3k+), I make regular payments and it's come down quickly. Granted I do this on a truck account with much larger payments than snap on credit.

Good purchases, and there is nothing wrong with paying cash if you can.

Agreed with the above. Depends on how responsible you are. Sometimes i see multiple things on the truck that i could really use but dont have cash for all of it. I pay cash if i know im buying only one thing, like a socket set. But if i happen to see other things i need, ill pay cash for what i planned on and put the rest on account and pay it off next week or just leave it and make payments. Never been behind, never missed a payment, never made my dealer un happy

And you are right credit is the way to go, but for now as a student cash payment sounds so much better. I definitely plan on getting me chest when I get my own bay at a shop.

We use both 87 and 88 and totally agree with that notion. I Passed my voltage drop, voltage available, and amp flow test last week with a 87

Most Fluke meters below $300 (give or take) are now made in China.

You can still find decent deals on older USA made units though.

my work uses fluke 177's, they're pretty cool.

My SO meter isn't as accurate as the fluke down to .01v, but the features on the SO are far more useable day to day!

Good haul! a little Debt is a good thing, unless you can't afford to pay it of coarse!

Who told you that ? I bought a new Fluke 88 kit off ebay last year and checked it out and every place I looked shows USA

Why do you think they are so expensive ?

i agree hiball

i've been "lucky" during the past 26+ years pulling wrenches, my ex was kinda a gearhead, and the ex FIL was a bodyman & PT wrencher.
with the current wife, all my working tools were paid for when we got together, she dont really mind if i buy tools for working on my project truck, or for 'round the house kinda stuff.
and i dont complain when she spends $$$ on matching shoes, purses and undies

I haven't brought myself to get full sets of SO stuff yet. I've bought this and that via a student discount. I got lucky and got a new 87V off Craigslist, we use 88V's at our school.

I like your purchase of the cordless impact and ratchets. I need to breakdown and mirror those purchases.

Nobody had to tell me that, I know it from first hand experience. We go through a lot of meters here.

Not only that, but it's not exactly a secret. Just do some googling. Nearly everything (if not everything) below the $300 range (basically 87/88) is now China made.

edit: I'd like to add, I'm particularly sour about this, because I used to be one of those "Nothing but a Fluke" guys. Now the name means nothing special to me. Not only that, but my distributor has hinted that the failure rates have gone up.
