I have a 30' X 36' small shop that I just built... I insulated under the concrete
with 1.5" (R9) put the pex in the 6" thick slab... could only insulate down about
8" around the perimeter ..... 3 zones of 1/2" pex, each each about 230' long.
This is a complete steel structure but I did insulate it... 6" roof, 4" on the walls.
I dont want to run a water line under ground to the boiler so I was figuring on
filling the system with water/anti freeze then use a expansion tank for any
growth in the heated water............... can I do this......... next is the boiler,
what size would be correct for this size place...... forgot.... this has 12' walls
I sure would appreciate some help here..... THANKS guys

Here's a link for a company with 20+ years EXP. http://www.radiantec.com/index.php?gclid=CJvrv7fs5pwCFQxM5QodaV3DHg & here's an idea worth looking at with energy credits from local, state & federal credits. http://www.sunmaxxsolar.com/evacuated-tube-solar-collectors.php Outlet temps of 130 F is a nice pre-heat starting point! In my area geothermal ground loops are getting popular heating the water to 58 F for free minus installation. This $40 plan from Mother Earth News: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Modern-Homesteading/2003-02-01/Wood-Burning-Furnace-Boiler.aspx or commercial models. Not quite a boiler: http://www.cedartubs.com/chofu-wood.html This fellow by failing developed a whole new generator: http://www.yourownpower.com/Ice/Museum/ Hope this helps you chose! I think you're about right on your BTU input.

I went with a tankless modulating boiler that will throttle its input based on the incoming water temperature coming back from the heating loop. It's worked very well.

The ti 150 modulates up to 150,000 BTU. It has an AFUE efficiency of over 95%...which will save you a lot of $ over the life of the boiler.
