Like Forest Gump said- Stupid is as Stupid does! You buy a brand new expensive Camaro and put a P.O.S. LOW BUDGET ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER on it that really doesnt even enhance the horsepower! With what looks like a 10 cent aluminun fan blade on it! Geez! I have no pitty for the guy!:lol_hitti

The sad part is that the engine probably sucked the blade off the fan. No way that fan could deliver boost to that size engine. More like a turbine restrictor plate.

I think his first mistake was buying a V-6 Camaro.

Say whatever you want, but that new V6 is a damn impressive motor. Dead stock, it puts out 300HP and gets 29MPG in that car. Name another normally aspirated V6 from any manufacturer that puts up numbers anywhere near that.

we have a saying at work about all the stupid people we meet " It is nothing 100mg of succinylcholine and a 30 minute smoke break cant fix"

for those not in the medical field succinylcholine is a paralytic that will render every muscle in your body useless except for your heart, including the ones that breath for you. (bad part is it has no neuro effects so you would be totally aware that you are dying of lack of oxygen but couldnt do a thing about it)

Maybe that "supercharger" is actually a new kind of hybrid gas/electric thingy that charges the battery when the motor is running fast enough to spin the little tin pinwheel blade in there?
I've seen more robust looking fans on a PC power supply.

The blade ended up in the cylinder and you can see in the pics that one piston and combustion chamber has been "hammered" by hitting the blade a few thousand times once it entered the cylinder.

It wouldn't matter if it was the fastest v6 ever made.A V6 in a Camaro or Mustang has just always seemed wrong.

Why buy a muscle car and only buy 3/4 of the motor?:headscrat
In the past, the V6 versions were marketed for girls. How many V8 Camaros have been sold with less than 300hp? Plenty... A V6 IS now a muscle car.

The v6 is marketed towards the average American consumer (male or female). One of the BIG reasons the previous Camaro had a multi-year hiatus was due to the lack of v6 sales.

FYI, all Camaros and Mustangs regardless of engine size are and always have been "Pony" cars (2+2) not muscle cars.

The sales numbers for the V6 car are huge compared to the V8 versions, affordability being the key factor:

~50% better fuel economy (SSV8 gets 21, V6 gets 29)

Lower insurance premiums

Lower MSRP

Add to that the fleet sales (Avis, etc) which are overwhelmingly V6 cars.

Without the overall sales numbers being primarily comprised of the solid performing V6 car, there would be no way to have just the SS as a stand-alone product.

Chevy should have built the V6 car using the V8 engine block, and just leave two rods and pistons out, then just tell all the knuckle-draggers that it is a 300HP V8, then they would all be OK with it, LOL.

Also jammed a valve open and it got hammered. Needs at least one piston, possibly a rod and a new cylinder head. A crate motor is probably cheaper.

the corvette has always had v8's in them except for the first few years, a true sports car only has high performance engine options.

I don't recall any requirements for a sports car to have any high performance engine requirements. Sports cars generally have as much focus on handling and braking as they do acceleration. The Mazda miata is and always has been considered every bit as much of a "sports car" as a corvette.

Of course, the mustang and camaro are not sports cars....as they have 4 seats (2+2) compared to a true sports cars 2.

Since you asked:

Nissan 370Z - 332hp or 350hp(Nismo version) 26 mpg
Hyundai Genisis Coupe - 306hp 26mpg

Granted the Camaro V6 is much better than the other US brands.

As cool as the Camaro may be I just couldn't support a company that takes my tax money to stay afloat!

You can then cross off a vast majority of US corporations. The government has bailed out (given money to) bank after bank after bank....and yet when they LOAN a car manufacturer money for a bailout that's suddenly blasphemous? Chrysler was bailed out back in the Lee Iacocca days and was repaid in full ahead of time. Hell, even the Japanese receive "unofficial" government subsidies.

Had the government let GM fail completely....this little recession were in would have likely turned into something a bit more catastrophic...but I digress.

Anyone who throws an electric supercharger on ANY car gets what they deserve.

BUT, very few of the other companies that wound up with OUR money was as blatant in begging for it as GM was. It was nothing but a reward for UAW support and votes. GM deserves to be flushed down the toilet bowl of history.

Despite what the PAID propagandists of the media would have you believe, GM LOSING $1.2 billion dollars last quarter, is still a loss, and their plan to pay back OUR money, will come by taking money from other government loans. Good propaganda, but it just postpones the final, and well deserved, outcome.

2GR from Toyota/Lexus.

306 hp
276 lb-ft
28 mpg

Out of a 3.5L.

I totally agree that the engine is a very nice engine. It's just doesn't "fit" a Camaro from a "car guy's" perspective.

I'd say that every single bank that received federal bailout money was just as...if not more blatant at begging.

GM still is one of the largest corporations in the world...and the impact of it's demise would be felt everywhere. The amount of direct and indirect workers worldwide is immense...and to put every single one of them under the knife would have dire consequences. It's fairly common belief that if GM were to fail outright, the demise of several other car manufacturers (both domestic and foreign) would be imminent. Don't forget that many manufacturers share common suppliers....which many would likely go under.

Give them time....they'll be back (with or without your support). I'm still more of a FORD guy, but really have no brand loyalty with anything domestic (I generally refrain from buying foreign).
