Hello,

I'm sorry if this is a redundant thread, but I'm having a heck of a time finding an image hosting site that is compatible with this website, since photobucket went crazy on their 3rd party hosting costs.

I've tried imgur and flickr without much luck of successfully uploading to GJ. Anyone using something other than these two that works?

Any advice is appreciated!

Photobucket still works fine for posting. For viewing you simply need the extension/add on for Chrome/Firefox.

Seems like there is lots of Mis-information out there.

Here is my experience, having several threads on several sites with photobucket-hosted pictures.

When they went crazy, pictures no longer displayed.

Download the browser extension, they display again.

Then half of them go down once more.

Went to the effort of hosting with IMGUR. Worked fine on several other sites. When I attempted to fix my garagejournal threads with Imgur, I recieved a notice that they do not allow 3rd party hosting ON SITES WITH A CLASSIFIED SECTION - which garagejournal has labeled as such.

(Now the other sites have classified sections, but they do not label them as such. Pictures hosted with Imgur work fine on those for me.)

So in order to have at least some of my pictures work, I replaced the Imgur ones with Photobucket once again.

Now none of them display for me - even with the browser extension.

I find this odd, as I can see pictures on others threads, that I know are photobucket hosted and browser enabled.

Its a cat-n-mouse game, is my best guess. Getting real sick of the greed killing the golden goose.

Use GJ ! You can put them in your profile under Albums. Just make sure to open the picture in a new tab so that it has no "decorations" around it and then grab the address.

You can always upload it as an attachment.

I can see it. Looks like a screenshot of the post I made.

I do have the browser extensions installed. And I cannot see my own photobucket hosted images in my barn build thread, and others have stated they cannot either. (I am currently rehosting them to the GJ album and fixing my thread)

Here we go. On my Photobucket free account. Who can see it?

Are you using Chrome or Firefox? If FF, which version, and the exact name of the extension? There is one that I found that works better than the other one.

Okay, I have been playing around and have found that one of the PB images that DO NOT display even with browser extension CAN be fixed.

What I did was to EDIT the post with the broken image. On the link to the image, insert ~original before the bracket [ at the end of the image link.

~ is found under the ESC button on the keyboard.

It may be a pain to fix this way, but it sure beats re-hosting and/or moving hundreds of pictures.

Photobucket has not killed every account, some how there are some that slip through. I would not trust photobucket for hosting at any price. I can just see the bean counters saying, well we got 6.7% of members to pay $400, lets jack it up to $999 and see what happens. The big thing that they really got out of the entire deal was to get rid of tons of freeloaders.
