Image upload silent failures

Most of the time, image uploads work fine. Some times the upload seems to work, progress bar goes to 100%, but then nothing. No thumbnail produced, and the image can’t be used. Sometimes trying again works, but not always. No error messages or anything helpful on this end.

I am having the same issues tonight I tried to use Safari it went to 100% and nothing. I then tried Firefox and it kept telling me invalid file type used if I did a drag and drop tried attached file and nothing at all could not even select the image when I did attach files.

I just did a test with Firefox and had no issues uploading. I will say that I have never been successful @ drag & drop tho
wonder if it's related to the slow loading that Ryan is aware of ( & getting to )

I often get an error message when trying to post and the forum does not accept image links to one of my SmugMug albums. It’s a pain in the ***.

The workaround I use is to complete and post the text-only message and then add links for each photo via edit-insert image-save, and then rinse/repeat for each separate image. There are required wait times that don’t let this go as fast as it could, and I sometimes run into the maximum edits allowed by the forum software in a 24h period, but although it’s awkward it mostly works.

Have you tried doing your uploads via edits as opposed to the original post?

This time it worked fine it is strange. So I went to post in the free parking "What did you do in Yard tToday" and it attach file still was doing the same issue of running to 100% and not posting but following 4Xdog and edit and then doing a drag and drop off the menus above it worked but the first time it said file to large so I just tried it again and it posted.

I have occasionally seen the “file too large” message, but not recently.

Whether new post or edit existing does not matter. Almost seems to be image specific. As shown on the screenshot above, I have two that trigger this, and one that works fine.

I have seen this issue of late also. I've saved a copy of the picture after a slight edit and attached it with no issue.

Are gifs no longer allowed for upload? Occasionally I'll get the same issue as the OP with uploading pics, I just delete the failed one & retry.

But with gifs it fails every single time. I also tried going to the gif thread, downloaded one that was posted, tried uploading it & it also failed. Tried with firefox & chrome, PC & Android.
