IMC air compressor

I haven't seen it yet except a picture, but a buddy of mine just picked up a IMC 7.5 HP 80 gallon horizontal air compressor for me.

Any info on these. He saw it start up and run. Ran smooth nothing looked too bad on it.

Seems these later became Bel Aire?

I'm pretty stoked about this cause it was only 400 bucks and bigger than I thought I would be able to get. Just wanted to see if I could find any specs on it.

Okay answering some of my own questions. IMC and Bel Aire are one in the same and looks like a T39 pump

I picked this up a couple weeks ago for $300. It's all wired up now and seems to run very nicely for a 30 year old compressor. It has a build day of 8/7/87. Only problem with mine is it uses a T29 pump which is no longer made and parts are scarce if not non existent. According to the specs I found for the T29, it puts out about 15.33 cfm at 100psi and 13.75 cfm at 175psi. From what I have found it's an Italian made pump with a Buckeye tank and Leeson 5hp American made motor.

My understanding was that American IMC made a lot of compressors that were private labeled, Bel-Aire being one of them. I also talked to a guy at American IMC about mine and he spoke very highly of the American IMC compressors of this vintage.

The guy I talked to was very clear that if the T29 pump on mine was good "Dont touch it the T29 was one of the good one's". Given the vintage your unit looks to be it seems the same would apply.

My compressor comes up to around 155 and kicked off, then back on at around 135. Ran it up to pressure last night after changing the drain valve to a ball valve and at 6:30am this morning the tank was holding the same pressure it was at 7:00pm last night.

When it comes to compressors, for me, older and taken care of is better all day long than some of the new stuff out there. Quincy, Curtis and other top brands excluded of course but I'm not spending 2k to 3k on a homeowner garage setup.

Mine is the bigger t35 or t39 pump so parts are still out there. Yah if it runs good not touching it. For my uses a 7.5 HP 80 gallon should last for a long time even if it was a crappy unit.

Thanks for the info Maineguy. Sounds like a call to IMC might be in order seems they were pretty helpful
