Impact anvil size

Hi everyone. Been a long time since I have been on the forum but had a question that would best be answered by guys that know tools. I would like to know if there is any difference in an impact with a short vs long anvil? Is one better than the other?

I don't care for long anvils, they have limited use and are more intended for a specific use like tire changing etc. Standard anvils are much more versatile and you can always add an extension if necessary.

Thanks for the response. I am leaning toward just getting one with a regular anvil. I just thought I would see if there were any advantages of one over the other.

The longer anvil has 1 advantage. Since it won't fit into as many places, you won't us it as much as a short anvil, therefore it will last longer.

All kidding aside, get the short anvil.
