No this will be my first cordless power tool. I want something small to begin with as I have access to the other tools just not mine.

Been using the Makita LXT lithium ion line of tools for about 2 years on the construction site. Great stuff! The impact driver is a handy tool that gets used by me more often than any of the others. I would recomend the Makita tools.

Edit: just saw you were posting about a 10.8v homeowner type tool. cant say I've ever used those, but they look like every other low grade impact i've seen. Spend the $$ and get a good tool.

The bosch's are excellent, and are far from low grade. No, they aren't meant to drive 1/2" lag bolts. Likewise, you don't need a big *** clunky impact to drive screws or small bolts, either. You also don't need to spend $426 to do it. I bought mine because I was sick of lugging my 14.4v around, and it very rarely gets used anymore. I just bought the bosch ps30 drill, and my 14.4 drill will rarely get used anymore, either.

Hi Doug, hate to tell you that most but apparently not all of those Bosch 10.8v impactors were clearanced off at Home Depot etc... back in early summer for only $99 and Bosch thru in a mail-in offer for a free compact drill, batt not included, that uses the same batt. Demand was high so I recieved a drill clearly marked 12v and the set works well. Seems too expensive for 10.8v marked tool as the only diff is the markings on the tool and the new batts. The do function well. Li ion batts are kinda cool in that they work real good right up until they dont, no wondering, Hey is this batt going flat? Oh, no it's dead.

There's nothing different about the batteries. There's a good chance they're selling the 12v one, which is the exact same as the 10.8v one, so it really doesn't matter which you get.

I understand that Crawler, but I guess I didn't explain it properly. In fact I saw about six 10.8v bosch batts hanging up at the local HD and was greedily hoping they go on clearance as well.:) Maybe I should suggest it to whomever stocks that isle, if I could find a HD employee in that store.
