my son gave me this 18 volt dewalt set ,hammer drill, rec saw. circular saw and it is rather heavy and the batteries do not stay charged my question is i would like to get an impact driver should i go to the 20 volt ,12 volt or just get another dewalt and save in the battery and charger any input greatly appreciated thanks

I have been using the Dewalt 20v impact driver for about 3 years now. It is a fantastic tool with plenty of torque to do lags, bolts, screws etc. The highest its been dropped by accident was about 12' and that was 2 years ago. You cannot go wrong by choosing it if its in your budget.

thanks danarchy i saw a dewalt 20 v kit for $220.00 which is i think a good price so i will save some money and go for it like you say you only live once thanks for the response

If the tools work fine, replacement batteries could rejuvenate them depending upon your budget, needs or desire for newer tools. Unfortunately DEWALT made a design change on their new 20V battery packs and will not fit your older set. BUY either an older style impact driver kit with 2 lithium batteries+charger which will also power the recip/circ saw or invest into the 20V system and sell off the rest of the old style tools
