You probably read the thread title and thought "Oh no, not this again"

However this one is with a twist.

I recently got a free 3/4 inch Uryu impact gun. It has no grease fittings, however there is a plug on top of the gun with OIL stamped into housing.

I opened it up and it was pretty dry inside (Also I'm certain this gun was not used at least in the last 5 years). The hammer mechanism however is in perfect conditions with no signs of use.

Tried searching the Internet and all it can come up with is 3 drops of oil lubrication at the air inlet. Also manufacturers website doesn't offer any advice.

So any recommendation what kind of oil to put in this gun and how much?

I would be using oil in both places. I'm sure the oil port could use a thicker oil then air tool oil though.

That plug's for the hammer oil. How much, can't say, but not a bunch, that'll slow it down. About an ounce for a 1/2" impact that takes oil so you can most likely kind of figure it out from there. Drain the old oil out first and you might get an idea as well. I use synthetic motor oil in mine. Snap-On uses Redline synthetic in their MG series impacts for the hammer oil....

That's going to be a bit difficult... because as I stated the inside was dry when I opened it.

Forgive me, I don't read every line of every post, just what I figure is the important stuff. I missed that detail, it takes oil in there, it was was working without it as they do, so knowing it takes oil in there, I'm sure you'll figure it out from there.

now i dont know for sure but if it was me this is how id figure it out. put it on its side and fill up to the fill plug like on a differential, then try it, if it seems too slow, drain more out. also if you open it up the oil should come up to just above the bottom of the mechanism so you can kinda take a look and eye ball it.

Should the oil be something special (Synthetic as suggested by stickman) or can I just use 5w-30 that I have plenty?
