Time to upgrade. P.O.S. weekend special not cutting it anymore. I can get a 600 lb/ft IR from Sears for $180 Cdn. What does the GJ nation think? Enough trqe. for rusty Canadian cars and trucks?

Highly recommend an IR 2135QTiMax. Powerful and amazingly quiet. All of the IR guns are good.

You can probably surf the internet and find a better deal than that. I was just showing that because it is the first website I Know that has them.

I have a Nitrocat which is powerful enough to break off a 1/2" shock mount bolt if you aren't careful. Has either took off or broke off trying everything I have used it on here in the salt belt of Michigan. I like having a quiet impact so will either but another when the time comes or a 2135QTIMAX. A tip for getting everything the gun is capable of is to run HVLP fittings which flow a lot more air than standard fittings.

+1

I specifically got my IR2135QTiMax because I wanted to be able to use it at night and not wake any of the neighbors and it's been awesome. I typically just run it on it's lowest setting. Anyway, well worth the money. Save your pennies and start looking for deals.

On this impact wrench one MUST use 1/2" hose and the big couplings.
If one use 3/8" hose and small couplings you get max 600Nm torque in the wrench.

You can use 3/8" hose and still get 90 psig at the inlet of this tool and get full performance from it without a problem. The larger body couplings are always a good idea.

I'll put another vote in for the Ingersoll-Rand 2135QTiMAX. Have two, love 'em. Great guns. Quiet, powerful, light, utterly reliable.

I also have a 3/8" 2115QTiMAX and it's also very powerful, i've been using it to take off wheel nuts and bolts. Handles them without any problems.

I've got a IR 2100G, 550 ft lbs, sold at sears for 159.99, works awesome, does everything I ask of it. also have a nitrocat, has noticeably more power but from what people say they dont hold up as good. I'd go IR, 2135TI if you can afford it, something smaller otherwise, www.tooltopia.com seems to have the best prices.

As usual, a great response from the GJ boys. Thanks. The 2135 looks real good but it's not in the budget right now. I think if I go with a 600 lb/ft IR it'll do what I need. Noise isn't a concern and it's not for everyday use. Just wanted more power.

Folks at work has the IR gun always come to me for my CP -749 for the most stubern nut. Plus to me it take nut off quiker and more thump to than than the IR we have in shop.
If you ride it to long it will snap/sheer the stud or bolt, I have done it many time. I would go towards the Cp-749 for $157.00 plus free shipping.

There even CP-749K for $179. http://www.ohiopowertool.com/P-257-chicago-pneumatic-12-inch-super-duty-air-impact-wrench-kit-cp749k.aspx

That cp gun is a big piece of garbage its huge, top heavy and as strong as a ir 2130, I don't know what IR gun the guys at work have but they might need new ones.

For general mechanic work you dont need a TI but they are very nice, Get a IR2130 from tooltopia, its in the composite housing like the TI series but does 600ftlb of work. its not very large for a 1/2 gun and is very powerful. Ive had it for 3 years and it hasnt had any trouble taking off rusty bolts up here in michigan.

I'll probably get lambasted for this, but the Harbor Freight/Central Pneumatic "Earthquake" guns are pretty hefty, robust stuff, and regularly go on sale cheap (easily under $100 - I think I paid $70 for my 1/2", and $40 for my 3/8"). They've gotten some kind words spoken about them here (not just from me).

I'd love a quiet gun like that.:) I have two IR231C's running most of the day in my shop. Another 3 or 4 that are in rotation (having been rebuilt and ready for service when the current ones go down). You can get the IR231C for $115 or so on sale.
