Thanks guys. It works fine from what I can tell. $40-$50 was what I was thinking but it seems to mean more to him then that. I mentioned I could find them here in the classifieds cheap and the prices I was calling out that I have seen here for rebuilt impacts did not make him happy so I think I will not offend him and just not make an offer.

Thanks again for all your input guys

I agree about the stated value of about $50.

Looks like a plain jane IR 231C. Very common impact wrench. Heavy and reliable. Almost impossible to kill those things.

That is what I kinda thought or maybe a IR made for matco, and it just has a matco boot on it. :dunno:

Then you might not want to buy it. If you mean it's a sentimental (personal) thing...then he probably shouldn't be selling it and you probably shouldn't be buying it even if he agrees to your offer. (I think that's what you mean)

Kind of like selling your first guitar. When I sold my tex mex strat I was happy it was going to a kid that would be playing it despite the fact that I didn't get "fair market value" for it. Some people are different though.

I think its more of he paid top dollar when it was new and feels it's still worth that. I know what I can get one for and don't want a coworker feeling like I'm trying to lowball him so I just won't play.

Wow.

I would be surprised to get $40 to $50 out of mine and I even just picked up a rebuild kit for it from the Matco driver. LOL that the kit is stamped IR. :)

If you have the air pressure to run them they are beasts. Old---but beasts.

This is about like a battery drill. If I had to pay much of anything for it would be looking at a new one from a discount vendor. For 120 or so, maybe 150 could get a unit you never got to put a new 50$ kit in. New can be good.
