Impact Socket Organizers

I have these for my regular sockets, but I'm wondering if they will work with impact sockets because of the thicker material.

Once you get above 24mm or 27mm or so, the pegs are not designed to allow sockets side by side so it becomes a poor solution in alot of cases.

You need to determine if they(sockets) are to be stored upright in a toolbox or in a toolbag that sees travel or use that is outside the box.

If in a box, I use Snap_on rails and clips riveted to an alum . 1/4" th. sheet matl at whatever spacing I choose.

If traveling sockets, I use twist and lock rails but to me it's money well spent.
If ur cheap , solutions vary but are often not great.

I got tired of dealing with overly expensive or poor solution alternatives a decade ago. But I am waiting on something that works that I don;t need to &^% with or modify to make fit.

My Hansen's work for my 1/2" craftsmans and 1/4" gearwrenches.

Yeah I ended up getting the hansen's I have some craftsman sockets I want to try to consolidate.

The masking tape numbers are temporary until I set it up just the way I like it.

I've filled it a little more since I took that pic. So I have 1/2" deep; 1/2" shallow; 3/8" deep; 3/8" shallow; 3/8" swivel shallow and still have both small rows free. Planning to add the odds n ends like a couple semi deeps; adapters (3/8">1/2" and vise versa) etc. It does have a handle so you could take it out of the box if you need to.

The best thing I like about it, is that it's large enough and has enough weight on it that I can take any socket off any clip without having to hold down the tray. (Which is also why I use hansens instead of single row rails).

Picked up some Hansen type trays today to try them out on my impact sockets as a cheaper alternative to getting more Ernst rails. Looks like I'll be ordering more ernst rails in the near future...lol. It's not that my sockets don't fit on them, because they do just fine. Im just not a fan. I'm sure I'll still use them for a spare set of sockets or something, just not in my main toolbox.

I absolutely loathe the rails, I think everything about them is terrible. I especially hate fighting the sockets to get them on and off and then they move around too much and you gotta **** with the clip because it got bent. Its getting my blood pressure up just thinking about them.

I use Hansens with my Snap-on and Wright impacts (3/8 & 1/2) and they fit fine. I can see how if the sockets were a little bit thicker it could cause problems though.

Hate the rails all you want but in 3 decades I've never had a problem with them. Hmmmm..
Try the magnets, then the twist locks, than Hansens, then the custom stuff and then the magnetic plastic red trays where everything falls out when it's big and is Impact sized.

Then get back to me.

If you cannot deal with metal clips , the rest are going to spell the end of you.

I already have several sets of hansen's they are the ****. Just didn't know if impacts would fit on them.
