was wondering if anybody has the same problem with those ring retainers on impact wrenches, coming off with the socket?

I saw that ingersollrand has a pinned anvil available, for the 2115timax.

I use a 3/8 impact wrench pretty much non stop, and I also use about 4 rings a month.

anybody use the pinned anvil ones, do they hold up? do they get stuck?

and as always thanks, you guys have saved me a lot of money, buying the right tools, with the right kinda quality (the good kind)

The only problem with a pinned anvil it having to line the hole in the impact socket up with the pin and then having to depress the pin with a pick to remove the socket. Time consuming but, secure. Try putting a little WD40 on your retaining clip once in awhile, and it may stay put on the impact wrench.

I like the pin locks, but you have to push the little pin in with a pin punch every time you want to change sockets or extensions. They're perfect if you don't change drive tools though. :)

I've had a problem with the retainers becoming worn or compressed to the point where the sockets don't stay on; I have taken them off and bent them to create more pressure on the socket. I also have replaced them by getting them off the tool truck (in that case, a older Snap-On IM51A) but I am sure you could order a new one from the manufacturer/authorized service center of any reputable brand impact.

I like the pins on my locking extension and impact grade wobbles.

I have had to replace a few rings before as well. I DON'T know WTH it is with all the Ingersol's I have dealt with, but I found EVERY time that the ring needs replacement, you have fewer problems if you replace the subrings (rubber band under them). If you don't, I don't know if gunk gets under it or what, but I have to replace the rings multiple times otherwise.

The rings on the 2115TiMax and 2135TiMax have improved durability, you may want to give them a try. Part # 2115-425 and 2135-425
