If anyone bought one of these when they were on sale, the 1/4" impacting set would be good to use with it. Otherwise, hard to find a use for 1/4" impacts. I'm having a hard time even finding a use for the 3/8" Industrial Impacts I bought on a similar sale. It's pretty much 1/2" impacts, or I just use regular chrome sockets.

Isn't most of aviation 12 point? If so, then these 6 point impacts aren't much use in the aviation industry either.

That is about as useful with 1/4" drive impacts as a standard drill is. Nothing special.

What you want with these is a 1/4" drive impact WRENCH. They are extremely useful for almost all fasteners 15mm and below (like the vast majority of all fasteners on passenger vehicles). 3/8" impacts are my most used, followed by 1/4" impacts. 1/2" drive is very rarely used.

Here is a 1/4" impact wrench: http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/cordless/2452-20

Yeah... um... I usually use mine on my 1/4" impact? Sounded logical to me, anyway.

I bought the big GW set, all I can really complain about is the fact that tiny black sockets get lost easy as hell.

And the only way anyone's losing toes with that little right-angle impact is if he decides to run his feet over with the mower out of frustration after he can't get the blade off.

As 'bcradio' said, they are incredibly useful under the hood. I was also someone that didn't understand the use until I used them, then had to have a set (the same large GW set). Great for speeding up top end engine work, motorcycle work, differential cover bolts, etc. Use mine with the 1/4" non-fuel M12 Impact Wrench.

As a A&P Tech, I can first hand tell you that YES majority of the fasteners are 12pt, however the nuts and bolts that actually hold components (fuel pumps, hydraulic pumps, etc) together will be 6 point most times. After 5+ years working in a aircraft component overhaul shop I can imagine how these impact sockets would be useful.

I don't think thats what he meant.

I think he was going more along the lines that if THAT little impact could take that bolt out, then that bolt was way too loose to begin with and would come off while the mower was running and send the blade flying. :pimpflash
