Impact Socket Set Less Than $50?

Hey guys, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I need a set of impact sockets in 1/2" drive, metric and standard, 6 point, deep well, both less than 50 bucks apiece. Best bang for the buck I guess. Thanks!

If you're aiming for something very cheap, Harbor Freight or Northern Tool would probably be your best bets.

Not sure what size range you're looking for.

I have the HF impact sets... I dont use them at work now, but when I worked at the car dealership I used em and I use em at home now.

watch Feebay. Though this set is a lil over your desired price it was 1/3 the price off the truck just goty a 10-24 mm MAC set from Feebay for $81, have seen Wright Williams Proto and such for less but you gotta watch how many come in the set alot of times the sets are smaller like 12-19mm for taht kind of cash esp the tool truck brands

Are the Harbor freights any good? If I need a tool I usually make it, and if I can't make it, I go to the Harbor freight. I just figured maybe I should spend a little bit more on the impacts considering the abuse I would put em through. Maybe I will just go with mac.

I occasionally do too, I have a box of cheap no name tools for those times I gotta cut something down or "bend" it or grind them down to fit etc... depending on the task at hand

I guess if you put it that way I do too occasionally, but I usually put that in the category of modifying a tool rather than creating one... maybe that's what he meant.

Get the Flat Black ones from HF but not the Shiny black ones. The Flat Black ones are as good as anything else. IMo anyway.

Sometimes I am afraid to even breath the two most dreaded words on the GJ, but for under $50.00 dollars you will love the Chrome Moly HF set; (see I did not say the whole word out loud). Pick up one of the orange dead blow hammers, and a box of their best gloves.

If I ever had to do it again I would have bought my impacts from the people at Sunex, but don't tell anyone about are secret...

I been beating on my HF metric set deep and shalow for a few months now (Home use) with my IR 2135 and 120 psi at the tank. They are holding up well.

I've been beating on a set of deep craftsman evolv impacts with a snap on cordless 1/2 impact and haven't had a problem. Got them for 19.99 on sale for each set.

I got the craftsman industrials when the outlet had them. Forty for shallow and deep. Work great. Couldnt be happier

So your going from $50 to tool truck prices? thats a pretty big jump. HF stuff is gonna be cheapest, I dont have any to evaluate. HF seems to be hit or miss on quality from what Ive heard. Sunex or Grey Pneumatic are great reasonably priced sets. And quality will be much, much more consistent with them compared to HF.

I have at least three sets of HF impacts that I have used and abused for several years now and will buy them again if I ever kill these.

The HF sockets worth having are the Pittsburgh Pro. They are chrome moly, the cheaper ones they sell are chrome vanadium, same steel in chrome sockets.

I hate to say this because I love most of my Snapon Tools, but out of everything I own my snapon 1/2" drive 6pt impact sockets have worn pretty bad. I have had them for about 8 years and they look like absolute hell I wounder every time I use the standard set if it is going to round the fastener. I have warrantied the worst ones but I was told they were worn not broken. I recommend cornwell they HOLD UP like no other socket in my opinion. The new Mac sockets I believe are made on Taiwan.

Gray Pneumatic. I don't know how much the 1/2" drive set goes for, but I bought my 13 piece 3/8 deep set, on sale, for $25. I use/abuse them at work and they hold up fine.

I picked up a sew sets from Autozone, Great Neck brand, metric deep and shallow and standard shallow. The size range is limited but I've fleshed it out with some SO and Cman. I've beaten the living **** out of them, never rounded a fastener that wouldn't have rounded anyway due to rust and they hold up rather well. The shallows were around 15-20$ and the deeps were only a few dollars more.
Metric deep set: 11-19mm
Metric shallow set: 10-19,21,22,24mm
Standard shallow set: 7/16 (I think)-1"

Cant remember where the standard set stars, I rarely use them.

I stopped buying impact grade sockets about 9 years ago. I use chromes on my impact with no negative effects to the socket or impact. I have some very powerful impacts in 1/2 and 3/8 over the years.
