I could use a good set of swivels 3/8 drive, metric. I have read all the previous threads here but they are older. What is everybody using these days? I could go with SO but if there are some cheaper brands that do just as good a job then...

All my common size sunex swivels broke.

That ***** to hear because I just bought the 3580 set when Sunex was running a rebate . Were you using them professionally or abusing them. I'd like to know what I can expect. I'm just a casual DIY user.

You can get pinless Gearwrench grey pneumatic, or sunex.

I'm surprised you had a problem with the sunex impact swivels. They're pretty bulletproof and not too expensive.

You could also watch sears for a sale and get the 10-18mm plus SAE, a couple of extensions and a 3/8 impact swivel joint for around $160.

SK Tools 33350. It's a nice complete set, American made and doesn't cost an arm and leg. I've used my set professionally for several years, never had a problem aside from the laser engraving wearing off on a few of the commonly used sockets but that's hardly an issue.

The SK set me back $111 and they have been great. Not pinless but they have done everything I needed them to do!

Big fan of my GPs but our Mac dealer is great about warranty for broken sockets. Though if I wanted to spend the money I would get a set of the pinless Matco sockets. I have a few in various sizes I needed and love them

I have Matco 3/8" and 1/2" sets used professionally every day. I've had them for 8 years and have never broken one.

I've got SK at work. Use them primarily for transmissions, and some starters. They take a beating, and keep on going. Pretty good stuff.

For the daily use requirements of a pro, all common size swivels will eventually break its, just how quickly. I use the piss out of impact swivels and have tried most common brands. I get the longest service from Matco pinless (favorite) and new style Snap On with the oversize pin. Gray pneumatic and Sunnex give respectable performance but for me they get floppy fast and stay that way until they break the pin. Under occasional use they would last a long long time.

Right now the Gearwrench pinless might be the best value. You get the quality of Matco pinless but for a much better price.
