I have a 3/8 astro set I've been very happy with. Prior to that I had a pinned sunex set which was also good.

The tool trucks, and proto, use this semi-deep design versus the other brands. Sort of makes that design, and the more standard shallow design, two different tools.

ha, I am pretty sure does not make impact or regular UNIVERSAL SOCKETS. haha

Are you meaning universal joint sockets or sockets that will fit on both imperial and metric?

I like universal sockets. They are the set I keep in the house. They are perfect for household use. There are many quality brands that sell them.

Tekton just dropped a new set but it’s 2x price of Astro. I like Tekton though.

I'm personally eyeballing Astro's set, Capri, and Duratech. Duratech based on price, Astro based on rep. Capri on sheer curiosity.

At work we've got a lot of SK, some Snappy, some Carlyle, and a little Icon. They all seem to be doing alright. Had to warranty a few SK, but they're the most heavily represented, and probably the oldest of the bunch.

I'm not immediately in the market, but they'd be a nice addition to stretch my home box capability.

So I suppose I too am curious what others think on the subject.

I've been using the Capri impact universals ("adapters") with Pittsburgh impact sockets, or Capri stubby impact sockets if space is at a premium. So far, so good, but I've been eyeing the Capri universal impact sockets, or a more compact impact wrench!

I like the Matco pinless impacts. The Gearwrench pinless that look the same as the Matco ones are soft garbage and don't hold up.

If I was buying today, first choice would be Astro. Tekton looks decent, but Astro smokes them on price.

I don't currently have a 3/8 impact, so I chose the 1/2" Astro Nano pinless 12-24mm set.
This will be my first set of nanos and I'm kind of nervous it only works well on bolts and
not so much on nuts with any sort of stick-out, but I got other stuff for other stuff...

Torque test channel did a test on these that's worth watching. Although pinned, the Sunex are very good. Matco is excellent if you have truck access. If not, then Astro or Tekton.

Not the best, Snap On is the most expensive. I prefer Cornwell or Proto/Mac above SO. I do not recommend gearwrench or Matco pinless design, binds up after heavy impacting. People here like the Astros, I was told they fail a lot by a tool seller but that was awhile ago and I've never bothered with them.
