Impact wobbles 3/8 or 1/2"

I would guess that those of you who handle large equipment, use 1/2" more.

What about the rest of you, how often do you use 1/2"? Enough to buy a full set, or get the larger sizes/most used sizes?

The most common warrantied 1/2" drive impact wobble is 15/16. I think a 21mm is used quite abit on some front end work. You will have to get more input from people who actually use the tools.

I just sell the wrenches, I don't turn them.

I only use 3/8 but I work on Hondas.

get the 1/2" and a mini 1/2" impact- cover all the bases

I have both, with my 1/2" set going up to 1 5/16, but I work on heavy equipment. I usually break the 1 1/8, but I use it a lot. Get the 3/8 set and a 1/2" swivel adapter if you don't think you'll use the 1/2's very much. I use my 3/8 swivels more than I use standard sockets.

Get the 3/8" impact swivels, I have an SK set and use them pretty often.

I want to get both, but I went with 3/8'' to start primarily b/c I use my 3/8'' gun more than my 1/2'' gun. I went with full sets in Metric and SAE, but I prefer to be as prepared as possible. I have not used every single size yet so I suppose you could start with your commonly used sizes and build up from there based on need.

I only have 3/8 impact wobbles. For the 1/2, I purchsed the 1/2 wobble that you can put any socket on. I work on all makes/models car and light truck and have never needed a full set of 1/2 wobbles.

Ebay is the place to buy wobbles. You can find them all day long for nearly half price.

I work on heavy trucks, and have both. I don't use the 1/2" set very frequently, but I use the 3/8" sockets all the time. I could probably get away without having the 1/2" set but they can certainly make some things easier.

Thanks all. I already have a mini 1/2" impact gun (aircat), but it rarely gets used (left at the shop). I do have the 3/8" impact wobbles, as well as 1/2" to 3/8" impact locking reducer extensions.
I've been debating about buying certain sizes or even a HF set of the 1/2" as this is for my home box (owner of the shop is getting up there and I don't know how much longer he will be around). Right now, when I have needed a 1/2", I was using my pin style wobbles and an impact socket. I just the other day, saw an area where a smaller (depth) socket could be handy, and wanted others input.

Chadster1 is correct about the 15/16". I've had mine replaced several times.

I find myself using my 1/2" gun with a impact reducer and my 3/8" swivels alot due to low clearance. They hold up well.

agreed even as a heavy truck ,bus and equipment mech i rarely use the 1/2 set but always use 3/8 ...
