I ordered the bosch last week. It should get here today. I'll do a short review on it and the 3/8 bosch sometime shortly. I'm hoping it's as good as the C&D review made it out to be.

Nice test. Shame the Hitachi isn't available as a bare tool, I already have the batteries and charger.

Nice to see a comparison. I own the Bosch wrench and have no complaints about it, great tool!

Wish I could find a comparison between the Bosch gun and the Snap-On, Matco guns, I'm curious how it stacks up.

I'm surprised they chose the Milwaukee 2652, the 2663 would be a more fair comparison, I'm not sure why they would choose to compare a compact impact against the "big guns?"

Cool comparison! I've been looking at the Makita one as I already have several other Makita cordless tools. I realize it may not stack up to SO's impact, but since I already have the batts and charger, this should be perfect for my occasional junkyard trips and home shop use when I don't have air handy.

I noticed that they did not test the Milwaukee 2663-22 that is claimed to have 475 ft lbs,
but chose the smaller 2652.
I wonder whiy

Yeah, I think companies pasting 'Assembled in America' all over the packaging is more offensive than doing it all overseas. They might as well say "Well, at least we had Americans do a little bit of it, the easiest and cheapest part".

I'm sure they put a little American flag on it too for effect.

Had they used each of them daily for a few months that dewalt woulda slid way down on the poles, maybe even last, as the battery began crapping out prematurely.

Agreed, I am more interested in seeing the 3/8" test. We all know the snap on is top dog if pure torque is the only defining character. Most interested to know how bosch/makita/milwaukee stack up against each other.

:+1: The "Assembled in America" out of foreign parts bugs me too when they say that. It is a slippery concept they do.....

No IR in the comparison? The wimpy Milwaukee? No long term tests? Plus have you seen what kind of cars make their 10 best lists, can we say biased?

Wondering that too... I have the 2663, and was expecting to see that on the list. Seems like a bogus "study".

I live near the Bosch Tools USA headquarters and drive past it now and then. The factory part of the building was closed down and rented out a few years back. (170,000 sq ft if I remember correctly.) There is a huge empty parking lot now and the Redwing shoe store across the street went out of business.

I doubt that Bosch has plans to keep any manufacturing in the USA. (Same story with SB&D and TTi.

It is time to give up on finding USA made power tools.

As long as companies can make more money by manufacturing somewhere else, why would they make it in the US?

I bought my two as bare tools from Hardware Sales on ebay, they do have their own website. I believe I paid $109 for each of them, they've been great. This is an old photo, because they now look much more used, they continue to surpise me everytime I use them the loosen bolts/nuts I didn't think they would, their super compact and very ergonomical, great purchases IMO.

I really like makita stuff and would definitely get their electric impact, except I absolutely hate the double triggers. They are terrible.

I've been telling people here the Bosch is da **** when it comes to 18V impacts. :lol:

FWIW, Bosch does not plaster the US-assembled fact all over the packaging. You only see it on the tool label and in fine print on the box.

I'm still happy with my Craftsman C3 cordless impact wrench, it doesn't complain too much and it was the right price. (Thanks Stuey!)

That DeWalt is weak. I love their XRP line, but that is the one tool I felt compelled to let go back on eBay. Rated at 575 and struggles to pull off 110ft-lb lugs.

When it comes to lug nuts, I just want torque so I don't have to listen to 15seconds of hammering x20. The SO gun definitely handled the same job with ease.

I see the thread says 'electric' impact. all the replies are for cordless. I hate cordless. Damn battery is always dead and i have to then string a cord.............. so, might as do that to start.
Electric impacts that i have and dont have the m/n's of:
1/2 black and decker, worked reliantly for a long time.
1/2 dewalt, hate that detent pin, and the gun didnt last long.
3/4 milwaukee, kicks ****.
I'm not in the automotive field, but impacted a ton of nuts rebuilding centrifugal chiller compressors.
My 2 cents.

I got the Bosch 1/2 IWHT180 on Saturday. So far I'm very pleased with it. I put a rack in a Mazda as well as some other misc repairs today. I didn't use my air impacts all day. It had no problem taking sub frame bolts loose. It's portability already came in handy. We had a customer with some really bad rear tires that wanted to take them to a tire shop while we had his car. We pulled them off in the parking lot with my new impact instead of having to take them off by hand. I can tell I'm really going to like using this at the junkyard. It's a bit top heavy. I kinda expected it to be with the size of the motor it has to have to create some real torque. It seems like its going to run down batteries with heavy use pretty quick. I used it and my IWH180 3/8 impact all day long and had to charge each battery once. They were not fully charged to start off with. I'll see if I can take some video at some point.

It would be nice if the comparo had the industry leaders of cordless impacts in the test (Snap-on and Matco) those guns in that article are consumer home depot/Lowe's junk

You should try some of the newer impacts with li-ion batteries. I hardly use my cordless impact anymore but when I do (months in between), the battery is still good and ready to go.

The Dewalt is a mediocre gun. The 1/2" gun from Milwaukee is MUCH better in almost every aspect. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much power that sucker has. Plus it comes with li-ion batteries as oppose to the Dewalt's Ni-Cad.
