Where can you get the steel rings that go on the impact wrench, to hold the socket on. This thing is driving me crazy.:shocking:

No special tool is needed to install the clip ring. All you have to do is lay the clip ring on the concrete and push the anvil into it as you rotate the impact gun in a circle. It will pop on in a second. All 1/2" guns take the same ring.

Bob can you elaborate on this? I'm having a hard time picturing it and I need to replace the ring on my old IR gun asap.

Sure... First get the old socket retaining ring off and under it there is a O-ring. Remove it too.

When you get the new socket retaining ring, you should get a new O-ring as well as it is considered a kit.

Install the O-Ring. Now, Lay the new socket retaining ring on the concrete floor. Hold the air gun as if you are going to use it. Place the anvil (Piece that the socket goes over) down onto the ring and at the same time hold the gun slightly angled. While pushing lightly, rotate the gun in a circle keeping the gun angled slightly and keep pushing gently. It will roll the ring right up onto the groove in the anvil and you will hear it "Click" into place. The whole operation should take no more than three seconds. The rotating motion should resemble a ice cream cone shape. I do 10 to 20 a week for customers and it may take you a try or two but once you get the motion down, you will be amazed at how simple it is to do. Good Luck Sir.

One of the guys I used to work with said he got his from the counter guy at Napa. That was a few years ago. They may not stock them anymore.
