Any recommendations on an adapter for an impact wrench with a 1/2" anvil to be able to use 1/4" hex impact bits? For example, to drive GRK screws.

KoKen makes one that is an absolute brick **** house. It’s quick release and works with E6 bits. I use it in the shop for running lags and it works very well.

A lot of other ones jam the bit into the holder after driving a lag.

I like this better than dedicated sockets for driving lags since the bits are cheaper to replace. I use it with bits from Felo and they are great for driving lags.

I know its not what you asked, but a good drill is better, quicker and more efficient at driving construction lags/structural screws like GRK RSS’s and Headloks. It also does less damage to the screw coating.

Adapter is a good idea, need to look at the Milwaukee Shockwave. However I bought 2 Dewalt impact drivers and an impact wrench, all 3 around $600 in total from Lowes. Not too bad if you do a lot DIY projects.

Do you not have an impact driver? I would think that setup would break bits left and right
^^^ not to mention fasteners. I'm unaware of what the OP will be driving but my little Makita 1/4" impact has twisted the heads off of many screws/bolts appropriately sized to be driven by a 1/4" tool.

Battery powered impacts that I use, both the 1/4 hex drive and 1/2 sq drive have power settings. For site work I just use the impact driver since it is compact but for the shop I have a 1/2 impact so that I can use it for everything including heavy lags. I generally just set it for the task at hand. I haven't yet broken a bit or stripped a fastener.
