I am a Lawn Mower Tech and I use Snap on air tools. This week my 3/8" impact is about done.:shocking: I see everyone at work tells me to replace it with an IR. I want a new composite one. What is everyone's opinion?

Search the threads for 3/8 impact, MG31, and IR 2115ti,timax etc. The 3/8 impact horse is flogged weekly.
Cordless might be the way to go depending on how much torque you need. Unfortunately, I think the IR cordless tools leave alot to be desired. IR makes superior air tools but, they are seriously lacking in the cordless performance area. Snap on, although pricey, makes the best cordless impacts. Try them out and you'll see.

Is there any way that you could try out a couple different impact wrenches to see what you like?

I forgot all about this... but my Snap On dealer gave me an MG 725 to try out for a week before I bought it. I bought it anyway (I was pretty sure that I was going to settle on it), but he made the offer. I suppose I could have returned it for my money back the following week. I was surprised taht he made such an offer, but he was pretty sure I was gonna like the wrench. He was right. If Snap On makes a 3/8 version of the 725, Id consider that in a heartbeat.

Aside from Snap On, the only other name brand that I would really consider is IR.

Now, don't laugh, but for working on my mowers and stuff - and where I don't need a 1/2 impact - I use this little 3/8 butterfly impact that I got from Harbor Freight. It didn't cost much, but it is incredibly effective. In fact, that is the only 3/8 impact I have. Might be worth your time to check out... mine has proved to be a handy little tool:

mine is the 75 ft/lb model, not the 50 ft/lb one.

The MG31 is a 3/8 version of the MG725, actually the 725 was based on the 31 it was just supersized so to speak. Or were you talking about a MG725 with a 3/8 anvil?

I thought the new MG325 was the 3/8 version of the nose heavy, unbalanced, loud and red MG725?

Not so far as I know
Already have a MG31? Most people do. Time for a matched set. The MG725 has more than just the family resemblance. It has the family attitude. Power. Power. More Power. Durability. Balance. Good looks. Ask your Snap-on® representative for more information.

Edit: I just looked up the MG325 which I had not heard of before it looks impressive but I still stand by my original assertion that the MG725 was based on the MG31.

I have tried the MG31 and I prefer the nitrocat over the snappy any day!!

i would like to try nitrocat but no one have around here as most of dealers dont have it but will order if i want it... i already fell in the love with MG31... even other techs want use my MG31 as some of techs ask me to sell it... i told them no! and GO AWAY!!
