Say 3/4" drive impact and a not go good CFM 30/60 gal compressor.. Thought I saw a post where someone used "Y"s at compressor and impact to get a little more CFM if needed?? Is this a clever trick??

Might work if you have a big enough pipe from the compressor to the first Y.

I can't see how diverting the flow off an air line would help with delivery down stream. Usually when you redirect flow you loose flow down stream due to kinetic energy and frictional losses.

Unless you somehow had multiple outputs from the compressor tank that were then plumbed into one line. I could see that increasing flow as you would be tapping you air volume at multiple locations instead of just one. :dunno:

just use 1/2 air line direct from compressor. the money you would spend on the fittings and another air hose. let alone the pita having to drag around two air hoses. it would be more cost effective and easier to use to just use a 1/2 air line with quality air fittings.

in a pinch to get a little more air flow i have just ran the hose direct into my gun that usually works too but still wont give you the volume you would get with a 1/2 hose.
