Anybody have any experience with the HF or similar offshore panel lifters? Renting one is kind of a hard thing because I plan on working a little at night, couple hours here and there, etc...
Buying a pro grade one for a single job is probably cost prohibitive....so that leaves the HF and other knockoffs like this one:

Good enough to hang 1500 sq/ft of 54"x144" Drywall? IF it ends up in the scrap metal pile thats fine, just need it to get this job done.

I used the HF knockoff to finish my basement ceilings and top row of wall gyp. worked perfect for me no problems. I have also lent it to a couple friends no problem and did a rental property ceiling with 10ft ceilings with it.

if your only going to used it here and there, the HF should be perfect. if its an everyday, shell out the dough for a big name one.

Also, i did the same as you, dworked a little bit here and there, hanging a couple sheets at a time. Thats all that was allowed. (newborn baby at the time)

Yes I have that exact one and hung rock in my entire new house, 2800 sq ft, vaulted ceilings. Still works fine just be cautious with it as it's a finger pincher. Squeals like hell when cranking up but still goes up ok. Since have used it to hang paneling in a sunroom and few other odd jobs, like hanging a garage heater. Well worth the investment over renting due to the convenience of just having it when needed and not trying to get all the rock up during your rental period

Thanks Guys!

shocksandstrutz...looks like we got the same reason for not just banging it out... She's not exactly "Newborn" anymore, but oldest is a hair over 2yo, little princess is 9 months in a couple days. So now I get home from work, see the kids, have dinner, get them to bed and then head out to the garage for a bit.

I've got one of those. Paid for itself on the first job.

My only complaint is that the wheels are kind of cheap and I had one break. I replaced it with a shopping cart wheel.

There must have been a BIG boat from China full of drywall lifts. Seems like everybody's got them on sale right now and they all look alike. I just got a Troy DPH11, 150 lb capacity & 11 ft ht for $140 with free shipping. Ebay daily deals.
