To all MaxJax buyers / installers.

Most of you know that I have been involved in the development and marketing of the MaxJax. I too have been involved with the installation of many units and development of the installation manual. I want to emphasize that EXACT drilling of the holes is crucial.

With typical lifts you are able to simply drill through the base plate with the necessary drill bit sized to match the anchor bolts. With the MaxJax this is impossible as the hole required is much larger than the base plate hole due to the "oversize" anchor receiver relative to the actual anchor bolt size.

I have read that many are sourcing a 7/8" drill bit. Trust me, drilling the 5/8" pilot holes after the column is bolted down with the designated primary bolt will save you tremendous headaches.

If you try to simply mark the floor with a marker then proceed with the 7/8" drilling, I can almost assure you that you will have one or two bolts that do not line up perfectly with the receivers. I have had it happen even after being very careful. Your only choice then would be to re-drill new holes or grind out the base plate holes to accommodate the mis-alignment.

After reviewing the entire manual, focus on STEP six. It may save you a lot of frustration.

I will be reviewing the posts this weekend. In case any of you require immediate attention, send PM.

One of the warnings in step 6 says "Do not exceed 1/8" total shim thickness when using the supplied Drop in anchors." I don't have the lift yet, but I set a level across a taped outline of the column footprint on the floor and it looks like I'll need about 1/4" of shim. If that's the case, what options do I have? The floor has less slope than other garages I've been in, so others may have the same issue.

Exactly, after I read the install procedure I ordered a 5/8 and 7/8 drill bit. Cutting corners on any aspect of setting this up isn't a good idea.

It sounds as simple as buying a longer bolt but this may not be the case. Good point though...I am sure that others will run into the same issue and I am curious to hear the answer.

Thanks for the tip....I am waiting on the second delivery set and want to know how close to the EDGE of the otherwise approved concrete floor I can bolt the lift to?

I am planning to anchor and leave one post at or near the outside edge of the garage floor, so I only have to move/bolt one upright when I do most maintenance...

Thank you for a great product (in advance :))

I'm still on the fence with the MaxJax and another lift in the running...have been for a while and will be till the day I send payment.

Where did that on-line MaxJax Manual go?

Luckily I still have it on my hard drive at work, but I wanted to view it now...at home.
