$20-$30 for replacement rawhides depending on size. You kiddin me!?

I find these rawhide hammers at the swap meet/yard sales often enough. (The non split face ones). (Even new they are cheap).

Cut them with a bandsaw (or hacksaw with rough blade) next to the handle.

This particular one I had to take off one wrap to get the 1.75" I needed.

For those wondering, the split face hammers offer mass (weight) that the non split face rawhides do not.

DO NOT use cut off wheels (and the Burr King and disc sander was a bad idea too). The smell of burning flesh is still strong in the garage and my nostrils. lol I cut them a little crooked and had to face them. Sand or file slow if needed as to not melt the rawhide.

Bump for the ones who fall asleep the same day they wake up.

Got buried in this active forum.
