I haven't bought Imron in a while. My Imron supplier went out of business. I need to do some brush touch up of some stuff (small spots) and am out of 192S hardner (3:1 mix). Is there any other hardner out there that I can use in place of 192s? I will be doing it by brush (very small spots). Thanks.

People used it on cars too. I knew a guy that fixed up a Mustang II for his daughter and the painter used Imron on it. It's been nearly 30 years ago.

I used Imron on my car in high school, circa 1980. Looked bitchen but I never kept it long enough to see how it held up.

My '79 Trans Am was painted with acrylic enamel (from what I remember from the letter that the previous owner sent me) back in 1990. The car was also taken completely apart to paint it.

I've published that letter in another thread on this site.

Imron was used for many years and always known for durability. I painted the area above the rub rail on a Century I/O boat in the early 1980's. Scuffed and painted - I sold the boat years later and it still looked great. Ran into the boat again a few years ago and the paint looked to still be in good shape. Believe me the top surfaces of boats take a lot of abuse. If you can find the correct hardener you should be good to go. In many respects Imron is a better product than similar offerings today. Todays paints are more specialized, in the past prep wasn't as critical as the product (imron) was more forgiving. I'm far from a painter but I can tell you there is nothing wrong with using Imron and expecting good results.

What are you using Imron on?

I recall high performance turbine and jet aircraft showcasing "Imron paint". What else was/is it typically used on?

I am touching up my snow plow /frame that I painted back in 1997 with Imron. I found some hardner after someone posted the website. Thanks!!! I did a car 20 years ago and it still looks good except it is now rusting. I have even blocked and buffed Imron.... lots of work but it looked great!!!!

I have a 40+ year old Imron job on an old car... It still holds a decent shine, and for a 40 year old paint job it is pretty impressive stuff. I remember something about it being toxic as hell, but most of us are still around...

What is the deal with the toners, and what colors are still available? It would be cool to be able to shoot the stuff again...

It was one of the first isocyanate paints around here, so I don't know how much of that reputation was from people who treated it like the conventional paints.
