In floor electric heat

I'm looking at redoing the floor in my basement wood shop with tile, and I saw some small electric radiant heat mats at Lowes. I was wondering if any one has experience with them. I have seen them in bathrooms where they cover the whole floor with them, but I'm just looking to heat the spot in front of my bench and under my desk. Any one see any problems with using two of the small mats, my basement is heated but not that well I was figuring these could be used to give me a boost when required. My idea is that with electric I can shut if off when I don't need it.
