I've had my system for about 3 years now and have had a few minor issues with it, nothing major. Totally happy with the system, but I have a question. Is anyone running a coolant filter on their system?

Mine is a closed system running glycol, so it's not exposed to any outside source of contamination, but I wonder if it may pick up something from the copper or maybe the water heater. Does anyone have any input or thoughts on this? I was thinking of a spin on coolant filter like the ones used on heavy equipment engines. Change it every year or two just for good measure.

Cheers,

I have a infloor heat system in my basement slab. My wife and I installed the tubing and because of warrenty issues etc. I had a heating contractor install the rest of the system to the manifolds. I asked them about a filter, they siad no, closed loop system is not introducing anything to filter. But Watts sells a filter assembly if you want one. I think it would have been a good idea on start up. A heavy equipment filter or truck filter is usually charged with additives make sure this is compatable or find one that is not charged.
