Hey everyone.. getting ready to put down my epoxy-coat kit in BEIGE...

I'm still undecided on what to do about the transition to the driveway though..

- North facing recessed garage will never see direct sunlight (yes its cold in winter)
- House color is also tan(ish)
- Chip the inside of the garage
- No chips on the outside apron but with anti skid (icy)
- Tsunami seal glued to epoxy or concrete? (would be easier to mask off the apron so chips dont get on it if I were to tape off where the seal would glue to the concrete)

I think most people avoid the epoxy on the outside because its usually gray or blue (non match to house color) and is in direct UV.

I do plan on putting down a tsunami seal and building a dam to the concrete curb wall to keep the water out as the garage door is actually the low spot.

I suppose my questions are:

-Coat apron? (w/ chips or no chips)
-Tsunami seal glued to etched concrete or glued to epoxy?
-would the epoxy amber even if its in the shade all the time?

Thanks everyone! It's always the small things that get ya!

Hi, when I do my floors ( floors I do for people rather) I avoid coating beyond the seal, for the reason that the chips are often not complementary to the brick. Also if its going to fail, it will probably be there. A steel blade shovel could potentially scratch the epoxy allowing water to get under - no matter what I tell the customer to do or dont do...

If the customer wants it coated outside, I usually just make a saw cut and coat it as two separate areas, so if it were to fail, it could be fixed easy

My answers to the questions are, grind the whole floor, and tape off where you want the seal to sit. If you glue it to profiled concrete it will be rock solid! - if you happen to get a bit of epoxy under the tape, dont sweat it. it will still stick with PL premuim!

As for yellowing outside the door. It will if you dont put a UV stable top coat on.

From the door out, why not use a water based epoxy primer and then coat that with an acrylic paint made for concrete. You can have the paint blended to match the garage floor. I'm not sure what the Tsunami stuff is, but you can back roll silica sand into the paint for nonskid properties.
