Indestro socket set

I remember somebody saying they really liked Indestro stuff. I have a chance to snag a socket set. How is the fit/finish and longevity of this brand? I've never seen any in person.

Looks extreme contractor grade....like what the guys who work on the oil rigs and stuff.....looks strong

Yeah that was me. Indestro was an industrial hand tool brand. There were two lines... Indestro and Indestro Select... I guess it was like craftsman and craftsman pro. I Only have Regular indestro wrenches... They arnt anything that special, but the Indestro select wrenches were nicer. As for the finish of the stuff I have... the wrenches wernt chromed, So I dont know, but the Indestro Select pieces I have are chromed, and there is no rust or anything on them, and they are at least 20 years old. Held up well.

Yea I would only own this line if I was working on this like huge tractors and semi's...

No, Id put thier stuff up against snap on actually. Its great stuff... Like armstrong and Williams

I would still only use it in heavy industrial areas...not home use

Well he said he can get it used, and these tools are excellent quality. Kudos to him if he can get his hands on them

I agree...most likely he will like them alot...and go after a semi or tractor later....that is where they will show there true selves

Thats true, but hell be quite happy with them for his general use as well... And even though you cnat warantee them anymore, he wont have to worry because he will never need too

That is a great thing about some manufacturers....they just add that warranty to make the whole world happy when most people know they dont need that warranty

Yeah, And sometimes they know thier tools are **** so you WILL need the warantee so peopl keep buying them

AS you can see, this 3/4 set of indestro sockets is going for 365 at the moment, and its not even an indestro select set. Look at the extensions though, at how beefy they are. These extensions do not look to be polished, just a satin finish. This is truly good stuff, considering this 20+ year old set is going for over 350.

Also they look to be in mint condition.....I would love to see what the 1 inch or 1 1/2 sizes would go for

I dont know if they made 1 1/2 inch drive tools actually. Thats a pretty recent thing. I think the biggest you will see in older tools is 1 inch.

I've bought some at flea markets and they held up very well.

I'm slowly building my indestro sockets, 3/8 drive that is.

I've owned some old Indestro sockets over the years. They were as good as most of the older brands so far as I could tell. You don't see too awful many of them around anymore, but they aren't that rare. What I don't see is sets. I have seen mostly a few in a box of mixed old sockets. I don't know why, but I've bought a mixed box at a two different sales with Indestro and Thorsen sockets in them.

I just bought 25 Indestro, Indestro Super, Duro, Duro Chrome and Wizard sockets today at a pawnshop, mostly 1/2 in drive, a few 3/8. Very sturdy tools. I HATE their wrenches, they just don't feel right to me, but their ratchets and sockets are great.
