I have two of these. One looks like it was never used. There are no marks at all where the socket goes and zero slop in the head. The other one I just picked up and has some play. The clicks sounded soft so I completely disassembled and stretched the spring just little. It helped but it's no where close to the sound of the other one. Is this normal or just a sign of a lot of use? I used the same lube on both so that's not why it sounds different.

Sounds like you're right and the ratchet is just well worn.
If you take it apart again look at the pawl and compare it to the other less used one .
You may notice the teeth are a bit rounded. Check the teeth inside the head too.
The pin upon which the pawl pivots, the hole that pin passes through and where the whole thing sits in the head of the ratchet are all wear points too.

I never have disassembled the unused one completely. I only used 3 in 1 oil to loosen it all up and then used super lube. It appears to me that the well used one was the former owner's go to ratchet. I also believe the well used one is an older version of the 3275. I can get it to click now but barely. It definitely has hardly any back drag.

The other ratchet in the toolbox I bought was an old non quick release V, 22 teeth Craftsman. I would have picked the Indestro over it as well.

Yeah, sometimes when you stretch the spring it stays tight, other times they dont hold shape well and go back the way they were.
A new spring may work but it's probably just a case of the ratchet needing a rebuild kit.

With the slop in the head, I think it needs a new cartridge. I bought the toolbox, the ratchet was only a bonus. Unless I get in a pinch, have about 10 other 1/2 drive ratchets I can use. This one will most likely just stay in the house.

You're talking about the two 3/8" drive ratchets at the bottom of the pic, correct? If so, I believe they used different mechanisms. Take them apart and have a look.

The one with the four lobed selector is the one with almost no back drag/click, yes? I have a Duro-Chrome that's the same model which works as you describe. Clicks very quietly, has almost no back drag and ratchets very smoothly.

User four.cycle is the resident expert on Duro/Indestro but he's been quiet on here lately. Maybe try and shoot him a PM.

Either way, both of those ratchets are good users. Should last a good long time.

The two at the bottom are 1/2 drive. The top one is a 2875(?) I picked up free at the flea market since I bought some sockets and it was locked up. After getting all the rust off inside, cleaning and lubing, it works as good as new and has a strong clicking sound to it.
