I recently bought a "new" tool box and it came with a lot of miscellaneous tools dating from 1920s all the way to 2015. Lots of older ratchets and I've taken them all apart, cleaned them, and reassembled them except a 1/4 indestro with the quick disconnect blown out but that's another story. However this ratchet doesn't want to grab onto the teeth. Seems to not be holding pressure on the pawl half the time despite cleaning in acetone, degreaser, and checking the teeth and pawl with a pick, lubrication with thin oil and red grease (separate rebuilds of course, tried each a few times along with some lever teasing), and teasing the drive around to check for any pressure, downwards or upwards, that would let it grab more. Does anyone have experience with this model that might know what's causing this?

Have you pulled the head out of it? Usually just something dried up and stuck in there.

Spring seems to be working proper. Tested the tension on it already and nothing out of the ordinary. It's a weird issue where nothing appears to be wrong and everything works fine as far as the drive engaging outside of the body but once it's in for whatever reason it hangs up on the ball. Like putting it in neutral without intending.
Had the head out a few times but haven't went as far as taking a pick to the pawl slot and such. Figured the multiple acetone jets got all the visible gunk out it'd get any in gaps too but some gunk that doesn't want to leave causing friction sounds most likely. Not going to enjoy trying to work the ball back into place on this one though. Seems indestros aren't made to be worked on easily.
Popped the pawl assembly out again and there was some gunk in the base got it cleaned out and now I just have to figure out how to get the ball back in. Think I should be able to clamp it and use a little screwdriver like usual but I already had the ball fly away once tonight so I'm done. Actually having the same issue with the other indestro, used 2 screwdrivers and my finger to get the 1/2 that's the same series back together but 1/4 isn't big enough to do the same. That model uses a spring clip to hold the drive and oversized pawl in so you have the oversized pawl allowing access only from the front and a tiny spring clip that has to go on a tiny part of the pawl.

Final update and the ratchet is back together. Seems to be working now. Gave up but second round got it. Did the rocket or half set trick and got the ball to go in. Now I'm sitting on a indestro 2880 1/4 that's not going to be put together at all. Quick disconnect is blown so it's basically a donor body and pawl if someone else actually messes with them and has a bad body or something. Thing's too tiny to even manage a partial setting of the ball with it's design unless someone has enough experience with them. Nothing like anything else difficulty wise.

Could you post some pics of the internals on that 2775 ratchet? (Or maybe it's too late to ask that). I've never owned one of those round-head Indestros, but was always curious what the internal mechanism looked like on the 2775 and 3275 (1/2"). Haven't been able to find any pics so far from someone who has disassembled one.
Don't know how to post pics. Had an imgur account at one point but never tried figuring it out on here. I can pop the ring back out and take pics later on though. Not going to try full disassembly again but you can see how the pawl works from side and top view alone. It's basically like the sk roundheads but instead of the lever on top engaging the lever plate it's the actual pawl and bearing engaging directly with the plate. Pawls two pieces, selector rod and female gear with a built in key to lock them together properly. It's different but that tiny amount of gunk had it messing up while the 3/8 sk I worked on was completely coated with gunk and motor oil and still worked (more or less) before cleaning. Think it's the smaller bearing and pawl selector that caused the indestro to fail. Not enough to get past the friction.

So as you can see the selector switch and bearing is on top. Selector has a rod that goes down and through the pawl. Pawl is free floating, only the selector rod is holding it in place. Middle rod on selector plate engages selector switch. Also bearing is stacked, one on each end to maintain plates center and keep it from slipping past where it should be for proper alignment. There's a little extra material opposite selector pin on plate that makes contact.
