I'm finally getting my garage. They started construction today and got pretty far. They framed most of the garage in the first day, all but one short wall and the rafters.

Here's a picture as I was starting the site work.

I had one tree that I couldn't pull out with a truck so a buddy stopped by with his tractor.

My buddy got a little carried away and cleared out more than I needed

Here's the progress for the first day. There where 4 guys working on it.

The garage is 32 x 48 x 14. It will have one man door, 1 - 10x10 overhead door, 1 - 12x12 overhead door and no windows. I was going to put a 12 wide lean to of the back but going to hold off on that for couple years. I'm going to finish the inside out in metal. I will also be putting in a car lift it.
I'm hoping to be able to put in trench drain along the overhead doors, but I'm waiting on the health department to get an ok. A few years ago they banned floor drains, so we will see if I can get a variance.

I will try to update when ever there is progress.

Good news! I got an ok to put a floor drain in my building from the health dept.
Here's the progress today.

1971 Dodge Demon
340 with a 5 speed.

I also have a 78 Dodge lil red express that needs a complete restoration.
I'm looking for a 68-70 charger(prefer 68) and a old Dodge truck, 70's or later.

Welcome to the site...your build and Mopar look great. I am a fellow Hoosier. I live in NW Indiana (Griffith) and know a few people who hunt in Walkerton.

So today the hauled two truck loads of sand and put two exterior was up.
They said Monday or Tuesday we will be pouring cement. I had to leave out of town so my wife took the picture, so it doesn't show much.

So it's been a couple days since the last update.
Sand has been put down and compacted. They installed the trench floor drain forms and piping.

I've been working the last couple of nights putting conduit in to run my electric, gas, water, a/c, drains, phone, and cable. Then I dug the locations for the lift so it will be a little deeper there.

They finished the top section of the exterior.

Cement has been moved to Thursday now due to rain.

AbodyMopar -

If you don't mind, send me a PM with your contractor. My mother lives just east of you in Argos and is wanting a "pole barn" to free up space in the attached garage. I'm trying to help her round up a list of potential contractors.

Oh, by the way.... Your Garage looks great! I'm definitely going to subscribe to this thread.

Your progress is amazing, the inside ceiling looks good should help keep the shop bright. Keep up the good work and good luck with concrete. One question, are you going to reinforce the floor with anything?

I'm going with 7000 psi concrete with fiber. I contacted several concrete company's and they all said to use the same thing.

I guess I misunderstood the contractor I guess.
It was a 6 1/2 bag mix.

Wow! 7,000 lbs concrete.
Why so much?
I have never seen anyone using 7,000. Normally I see 3,000 - 4,000.
You will have a strong floor, that is for sure.
I will be following your build.
Love your Mopars.

They set the grates for the floor drain

Next week they are going to pour an 3ft apron and install the doors.

nice size... I'm originally from Fairmount but live in Pennsylvania now... Interesting to see sand under the concrete instead of stone. Guess it works just as well...

Your building looks great, the two colors complement each other. I am sure you are ready to get the inside finished and useable. Have you designed a plan for the placement of your equipment and work benches etc.?
